To be drunk or not to be? That is the question!

"Please....5 more minutes! I don't wanna get up!!!" - Shana, after a night out.
The side effect(s) of going to bed late and getting up early :

  • Extreme fatigue.

  • Eye Pain.

  • Headache.

Side effect(s) of not eating since 8 pm till 12pm :

  • Extreme hunger.

  • No energy.
This is what we all have or will suffer from. Everyone knows what it feels like waking up after a long night out of clubbing and drinking. You feel like shit and try to remember where you left half of your belongings. We know that we will probably feel like hell the next day yet, we still get drunk as hell and dance like there is no tomorrow.

I personally think, that after a certain amount of clubbing and alcohol intake that we get fed up with it and try to find something else that is even more exciting. My friends LOVE going clubbing. We've only started for about...8 months now? We always go to the same club and it is as if the same thing ALWAYS happens. It also seems like that I can't get drunk or even tipsy anymore.
So I went bowling last night with my friends. Very good stuff. I won the second game of bowling. I bought my best friend a "birthday drink", which was a Tequila Sunrise. (The guy did a shitty job at making them.) Well, it's all fun and games until they say "hey let's go out and smoke." x 20. It's the same thing when we go clubbing...except its x 1313513513. I don't mind people smoking but I do mind when it means I have to stand outside in the damn cold because none of my friends are non smokers. It's total and utter crap!
Now you're probably thinking, "Shana, Where is this post leading us to?"

My answer, "I have no fucking idea."
I guess that I'm sort of rambling...I mean...people say we don't need alcohol to have a good time or we don't need a lot. We usually agree but then say how we need to get INSANELY drunk at the next party. I don't mind drinking alcohol beverages. But, I do agree that we DO NOT need alcohol to have a good time. I do agree, that drinking a few glasses before going clubbing is fine seeing how its hell of a lot expensive at the club. But, do we really need to drunk before, during AND after? I never understood of an "after party". Sure, to hang out more with your friends but to get even more drunk? What's the point, to get into a coma?
My good friends have extremely changed during the last 3 months, it is ALL about alcohol now. It's not about having a good time or just relaxing. We got to be drunk ALL the time and get the most guys. Even at a "all girls movie night", there HAS to be alcohol. I'm not saying that if you're 18 and older and you and your friends want to have a nice movie night together with some beer, wine or something then that's fine. But, getting completely watted? (Unless, you are having a really bad time.) Is it really necessary?
My 3 friends are 16 & 17, I think its over exaggerated that they need to be drunk 24/7. I also find it insane that they always have to write on Facebook and at school say, "I need Vodka..NOW!!!" I don't know if it's the "cool" thing now a days. But it does seem to be a new trend to always talk about getting drunk, being drunk, or needing to be drunk.
Questions of the Day:
Is it just my friends or the area I live in? Or is it like this in your area too?
What's your opinion on alcohol, tobacco, and drug intake?
Yours Truly,
Shana

  1. A great post, I agree on everything !! To answer your question, yes it's the same in my town and the region I live, but the only difference is that people are slightly younger...

  3. Within my group of friends, that type of "fun" is completely unheard of. :| Although, you know, most of my friends are sheltered private school students, so I think they're just an exception to the area we live in. ^^ I can't say honestly whether or not kids in my area enjoy getting completely wasted since I never see or hear of them. But no, you definitely do not need alcohol to have fun, and whoever says that must be running out of ideas for a good time. :-\ As for me, I'm pretty straight-edge, so smoking, drinking, drugs...none of that applies to me. I have no need for drinking as I can have plenty of fun without it, hate the taste, and it's a bunch of empty calories...Smoking, another very potentially dangerous habit, as well as gross in the long run, especially. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, and who likes hacking up phlegm every morning? Drugs, another dangerous and potentially lethal habit, depending on what you get into. I try my best to stay away from all of that.
